Be sure to tune into KATU on Monday to see the beach safety series "Washed Away." This is what Melica Johnson and I have been working on over the last month. The series explores different aspects of dangers on the Oregon coast, including sneaker waves, tsunamis, rip currents, tide pools, cliffs and logs. Did you know that it's very dangerous to play or sit on logs next to the shore? Jim Kusz from North Lincoln Fire District helped us to understand how something so beautiful can harm so many people without warning. I'm proud of how these stories have turned out because we were given time to carefully put the elements of the story together. The series runs in newscasts throughout the day starting at 6am. We will be live at the coast during the 4,5, and 6p newscasts on channel 2. Tune in and send me your feedback through twitter or the comment section of this blog.
